Philanthropy
Mu Delta participates in multiple philanthropy events and hosts several fundraisers during each quarter, often with other sororities and the larger UCSB community. We've raised hundreds of dollars for organizations including Kamp Kesem, which is an organization dedicated to supporting children impacted by a parent's cancer and had several of our members attend conferences hosted by the national branch. We also work closely with our local community by hosting frequent food and medical supply drives and supporting local non-profit organizations. For instance, we recently were able to raise enough money to assemble 50 first aid kits and distribute them to the local homeless population, and for years we've partnered with Your Children's Trees helping with their efforts to make our environment more sustainable. Our philanthropic mission also includes giving back to the student community by inviting them to one of our keynote speakers' events, where we host esteemed medical professionals and have them share their work and experience in their respective fields. Recently, Dr. Tony Kuo, M.D., M.S.H.S., Director of Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, joined us to discuss his work in making preventative healthcare more accessible and affordable.
